At Rocket Community Fund, we believe that building stronger communities requires more than financial investment—it requires the time, talent, and passion of the people who call these communities home. Throughout 2025, Rocket, Redfin and Mr. Cooper team members demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to making a positive impact by volunteering their skills, raising funds for causes they care about and showing up for neighbors in need. With unlimited volunteer time off at hundreds of company-sponsored opportunities, our team members are the driving force behind our community impact.

Volunteering Skills Where They Matter Most

In 2025, team members contributed 98,829 volunteer hours across our home communities of Detroit, Cleveland, Phoenix, Seattle, and Dallas, as well as remote opportunities across North America. Since 2012, team members have contributed over 1.28 million volunteer hours nationwide spanning a wide range of initiatives from stocking food banks, donating books,  building houses or creating greeting cards for sick children.

One particularly meaningful example emerged in fall 2025 when Rocket Legal team members reached out to our Volunteer Engagement and Giving team to offer their unique skills to tackle a challenging problem: helping Detroit residents navigate the complex probate process and secure clear title to their homes. When families inherit properties without proper documentation—often called “heirs property”—they risk losing their homes to tax foreclosure, unable to access critical resources or make necessary repairs.

Since the project began, 13 Rocket Legal team members have been using their unlimited volunteer hours to support Lakeshore Legal Aid, applying their professional expertise to help Detroit families untangle complicated property issues that have often persisted for generations.

At volunteer events throughout the year, our legal team prepared and filed probate court documents and fee waivers, helping families transfer ownership into their names so they could legally manage their properties. This work was especially critical because Wayne County Probate Court remains closed to in-person services since the COVID-19 pandemic, making an already difficult process even more challenging for grieving families. This effort complements the Gilbert Family Foundation’s $1.5 million investment with Lakeshore Legal Aid and Michigan Legal Services to scale probate services for homeowners at immediate risk of tax foreclosure.

Research from Detroit Future City revealed that as of 2023, there were more than 5,500 heirs’ properties in Detroit worth $270 million—representing a huge potential loss for long-time Detroiters if this issue continues unaddressed. Our team members’ volunteer work preserves both housing stock and generational wealth for Detroit families.

Our housing stability efforts were recognized when Rocket was named 2025 Corporate Partner of the Year by Habitat for Humanity Detroit for our partnership in creating safe and affordable housing.

Giving to Make an Impact

Beyond volunteering hours, team members rallied around causes they care about through innovative fundraising campaigns. The 2025 Rocket Companies Community Challenge raised over $1.7 million—the second-highest total ever—with Redfin and Mr. Cooper team members joining this year’s effort. Since 2016, this program has empowered team members to nominate, advocate, and raise funds for nonprofits they personally care about, inviting friends and family to join. To date, the Community Challenge has raised over $12.5 million for nonprofits across the country, with team members nominating over 200 nonprofits in 2025 alone, representing causes ranging from animal welfare to literacy and housing stability.

Our annual Holiday Giving Campaign delivered record-breaking impact, with team members from across seven markets contributing to our most successful virtual food drive to date. From November 3-14, 1,103 team members made individual donations that, combined with Rocket Community Fund’s 2:1 match, generated $236,385 in total impact—providing 951,842 meals across North America.

This represents a 353% increase in total meals compared to 2024, driven by the addition of Dallas (supporting North Texas Food Bank with over 4,800 meals) and Seattle (supporting White Center Food Bank with nearly 2,000 meals) to our annual campaign. Detroit continued its strong leadership with 760 donations to Gleaners Community Food Bank, providing nearly 143,000 meals to Michigan families.

In honor of National Reading Month, our 2025 virtual book drive raised a record-breaking $14,283 for literacy efforts through United Way chapters in our home communities across the U.S. and Canada. Since we began hosting this annual drive, we’ve raised a total of $42,461 to support knowledge sharing, inspire young minds, and foster a love for reading across communities.

Looking Ahead

The collective impact of our team members reflects our core values: a commitment to building stronger communities and supporting our most vulnerable neighbors. As we look toward 2026, we’re excited to continue expanding opportunities for team members to give their time, talent and resources to the causes and communities they care about most—because when we show up for our neighbors, we all have opportunities to grow and prosper.
