Watch: Motor City Contractor Fund Hosts Mastery Class on “Industry” to Promote New Opportunities

October 20, 2022

In April, we launched the Motor City Contractor Fund, a $1 million pilot program focused on helping 20 Detroit-based contractors with the resources, training, and access to funding they need in order to compete for bigger construction projects in and around Detroit. A key aspect of the program has been technical assistance training, coordinated by LifeLine Global Consulting, on everything from securing loans to creating business plans, hiring practices and knowledge sharing from industry leaders. Last month, we held a “Show Me the Money” event that helped participants connect with lenders.

Recently, the Motor City Contractor Fund hosted a workshop called “Industry” on how participating contractors can gain a better understanding of the ins and outs of the construction industry in Detroit, including how to identify new job prospects and the process for bidding on projects through the City of Detroit.  Sachse Construction was also at the event to talk about an exciting new project open to MCCF participants called “The Preserve on Ashe.” Participants were given a detailed overview and the specs of the job, as well as an open invitation to apply. Throughout the workshop, contractors were also able to connect with each other and learn from industry experts on business best practices and tips for succeeding in the local marketplace.

Check out this video to see a recap of the event and hear from one MCCF participant on how the program advances opportunity for local contractors, while contributing to the growth of Detroit.
